Jasmine-Scented Green Tea Production Process

Step 1: Preparing Tea Leaves

The base tea is pre-dried to the correct moisture level before scenting.

Step 2: Picking Jasmine

Jasmine buds are harvested in the afternoon when they begin to bloom but have not fully opened.

Step 3: Screening Jasmine Flowers

The buds are passed through a screening machine to remove smaller or immature buds, ensuring uniform fragrance and quality.

Step 4: Mixing Tea & Flowers

Between 8-9 PM, when jasmine blooms release their strongest aroma, tea leaves are spread out and covered with jasmine buds. The mixture is then gently stirred.

Step 5: Scenting / Incubation

The tea-flower mixture is left to incubate for 17–18 hours, allowing the tea to absorb the floral aroma. Workers stir the mix every 3 hours to dissipate heat and enhance fragrance absorption.

Step 6: Separating Jasmine Buds 

A two-stage screening system separates the jasmine buds from the tea. The tea falls to the lower level while buds are retained on the upper screen.

Step 7: Final Drying

The scented tea is dried using a conveyor dryer at 90–110°C for 12–15 minutes, reducing moisture to 5–6%. This step enhances aroma, fixes tea appearance, and extends shelf life.

Lotus-Scented Green Tea Production Process

Step 1: Preparing the Tea Base

The tea leaves are pre-dried before the scenting process begins.

Step 2: Harvesting Lotus Flowers

Lotus flowers are handpicked early in the morning (around 5 AM) when the buds have just begun to open, which is when their fragrance is most concentrated.

Step 3: Separating the Stamens

The stamens are carefully removed from the flowers immediately after picking, preserving their full aroma and essential oils.

Step 4: Scenting with Lotus Stamens

A layer of tea is spread over fresh lotus leaves, then a layer of stamens is evenly sprinkled on top. The process is repeated in layers – tea and stamen – then left overnight to allow the tea to absorb the fragrance.

Step 5: Multiple Scenting Rounds

After each night, the stamens are removed and replaced with fresh ones. This scenting process is repeated 5 to 7 times to ensure that the tea fully absorbs the lotus aroma.
